“Life is a dance, enjoy the rhythm!”
After months of rehearsals, the day has come for the final performance by the students of the Ballet Arte Project. The expectation turns into a “chill in the belly” and the desire to enchant the audience that fills the theater.
And they do it! Overcoming many difficulties that arise during the year of intense learning and rehearsals, they dance with their hearts, putting their feet on the steps that can be the path to transforming their lives and also their families.
It's not easy putting on a show like this, it takes months of hard work choosing a theme, working out the plot through choreographies and creating costumes that show off the full potential of the project's students. There were more than 200 students throughout the year, but 162 took part in the final show.
“We face many difficulties: - In addition to the high cost of the show, we hire all the technical staff, and we also have problems with students dropping out due to health problems and many absences during rehearsals. But we feel that this investment is well worth it, because it's necessary for the growth of the students and also of the project itself. students and the project itself.”
Ivonete Pereira dos Santos - Project Social Worker
Families are present throughout the process, as a way of encouraging and reinforcing their importance so that students don't miss classes and don't give up on their dream of dancing on the world's stages.
In 2024, the theme of the show was Tinker Bell, the fragile little fairy from the tales of Peter Pan, who, although small, has gigantic determination and teaches us about the importance of believing in ourselves and the power of dreams. She shows us that size and circumstances don't define someone's ability to face challenges and change their reality.
The Ballet Arte Project believes that small opportunities, such as access to dance, can have unimaginable effects on the lives of children and teenagers. Proof of this is the fact that many of the project's former students have gone on to build beautiful stories around the world and in the Coutos community itself.
Like Grimaldo who is a dancer, choreographer and ballet teacher at the Ballet Arte project itself, where he became a dancer, Brenda who got a scholarship from the Bolshoi, Bruna and Agatha who are now dancers in a band in Bahia and Janete who was also a student and is now studying dance at the Federal University of Bahia!
Really, life is a dance where we have to enjoy the rhythm, but without forgetting that there are several rhythms to be experienced and it's up to us to decide which rhythm to dance to!
