The 2nd Euro Prize - Innovation in Health recognizes the most important innovations in the medical field in Latin America and aims to stimulate the development of solutions that change lives. Voting, which was limited to doctors registered in Brazil, took place until the beginning of September.
The Operando na Amazônia program was selected in the Social Innovation and Sustainability in Health category. Conceived by the president of Expedicionários da Saúde (EDS), Dr. Ricardo Afonso Ferreira, the program brings medical care to indigenous populations living in hard-to-reach parts of the Amazon rainforest. Each year, more than 1,000 surgeries are performed in various medical specialties.
Recognition of the work done during expeditions to the Amazon helps to consolidate the difficult work of bringing health to those who care for our Amazon rainforest.
